Personal Development: Embracing Your Uniqueness

unique

“A flower does not think of competing with the other flower next to it. It just blooms.” – Zen Shin

Do you often have these thoughts running through your mind?

“Oh, she/he looks better than me, she/he is fitter than me, or she/he has a better life than mine…”

Do you often compare yourself to others? Then please stop that right now! I know it’s often easier said than done.

First of all, the grass always looks greener on the other side!

We are all unique in our own way.

Still, most of us tend to copy others, so we conform to a pattern because we believe we are not good enough just as we are. Some of us even try to gain perfection by imitating those we feel are unique. However, continuously comparing ourselves with others will never make us feel fulfilled and be at peace with ourselves.

Everyone is unique, but no one is perfect.

Our flaws are actually what make us human with unique characteristics. Let’s face it; if everyone were perfect, then the world would be an ugly place full of boredom and sheer monotony.

Stop comparing yourself to others!

By doing it, you are wasting precious energy and time. It will also eventually damage your happiness and self-esteem. It’s the recipe for misery. By trying to match yourself to your friend, co-worker or neighbor, you are only blocking your true potential.

When you start comparing yourself to others, you begin to demean yourself and won’t be able to see the uniqueness embedded in you. This is because such an individual has failed to realize that deep down he/she is unique and only needs to embrace it. If you fail to embrace your uniqueness and accept yourself just as you are, you will always have an inner battle against yourself, which will cause you to be in a constant state of anguish.

If you really need to compare yourself to someone, compare with yourself!

Ask yourself questions like: what can I do to improve my life quality? How can I be healthier? Commit to developing yourself a bit each day.

“There’s no comparison between the sun and the moon. They shine when it’s their time.”

You are a unique individual. You are born with a unique genetic code and body, which is composed of a unique bone and muscle structure. No one can feel your body the way you do. There has never been anyone like you on Earth and never will be! You are unrepeatable.

You have a unique brain, way of thinking and logic.

You also have unique gifts, talents and personality.

You can never be adequately compared to anyone else, the way you were brought up by the people surrounding you, your education, your life experiences have made you the person you are today. It is the combination of everything that you have learned and the various adventures through your life that make you truly different from everyone else on this planet.

Because you are such a special being, you do have a unique purpose and mission in life. Dare to be different; uniqueness is what creates the world. Conformity tears the world apart, stop blindly following the masses because it won’t fit you.

When you try to “fit in” and be the same as those around you, you are diminishing who you truly are.

No one ever made a difference or lived a bestseller-fulfilled life by following others. Therefore, you have to break out, embrace your flaws and be you. Listen to your heart, and take a stand. Be excited about yourself and accept your weirdness. By doing so, it will take you to something magical.

Embrace your uniqueness to develop yourself further, discover more and explore your true self. Nothing can stop you, go for it, the sky is the limit! Don’t be afraid of being unique, because that’s the only way you will find your best self!

You are indeed one of a kind!
